These types of pipes are usually bonded with aluminum or copper to increase thermal conductivity and improve heat transfer. Therefore, we will not deal with materials such as PVC pipe. From a design and regulatory perspective, pipe made with ERW and SAW seams is equivalent to seamless pipe and is less costly. For high-pressure pipeline, high-grade pipe, such as API 5L grades X42, X52, X60, and X65, is selected because much thinner wall pipe can be used, which significantly reduces pipe costs.
The pipes, often, need wooden support to keep them in alignment. They are also vulnerable to chemical corrosion inside the pipeline. It is lighter than steel and can be supplied in 20-200 ft length depending on the diameter.

Currently, the Chinese are trying their best to realize the goal of nationalization of pipe steel and, in a relatively short period, is trving to produce X100∼X120 steel plate. Ferritic stainless steels, identified with the 400 series, contain 14-27% chromium and are magnetic. Martensitic stainless steels contain 11.5-18% chromium and are also magnetic.
Martensitic stainless steels are commonly used in valve components. Therefore, manufacturers have developed lighter wall thicknesses to make stainless steels more attractive.
